Michael Daugherty, Northern virginia attorney

Michael Daugherty, Esq.

I’m from a military family, and a family of lawyers. I have practiced law in Northern Virginia since 2012, remaining in good standing with the Virginia Bar.

I opened Daugherty Luckey, PLLC with my wife and partner, Kimberly Luckey. Our purpose is to help clients define their goals and then apply the right strategies and solutions to achieve those goals. By combining our legal experience with excellent client service, we achieve our own goal: delivering an exceptional legal experience for our clients that is otherwise is difficult to find, and we do this through our actions which build client trust and demonstrate to our client's that we genuinely care.

I counsel clients and litigate a range of matters, including family law, international law, criminal defense, and civil litigation. I’m dedicated to delivering exceptional value to my clients by providing honest, practical advice to reach a successful outcome. This has built a client base that trusts me and refers family and friends. I have received the rare achievement of being named a Super Lawyer in both Family Law and Criminal Defense.

With my commitment to giving clients more power to shape their future, I am currently earning my Master of Law degree in Securities and Financial Regulation at Georgetown University Law Center. This expands my value to clients seeking legal guidance on everything from selling or buying a business, mergers and acquisitions, to advising boards of directors. This additional expertise will also be of value in family law cases where complex financial or business assets are involved or for clients charged with white collar crimes such as insider trading or fraud as it relates to financial instruments.

Kim and I have three young children (including twins). We know the thrills and challenges of being a family, a couple, and working parents. This shared experience helps us better understand our client's situation so we can build cases that help resonate with judges which helps lead to better outcomes.

When I’m outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my family – skiing, downhill mountain biking, and otherwise enjoying the outdoors.
