VA Family Law

Michael Daugherty, Esq.

I have been practicing law in Northern Virginia since 2012 – counseling clients on and litigating a range of matters, primarily focusing on family law which includes, divorce, custody, support, and protective orders. My dedication to delivering value to my clients by providing honest, practical advice to reach a successful outcome has built a client base that trusts me and refers family and friends.

I have been recognized by both Super Lawyers and Martindale–Hubble for my outstanding work in family law, as well as my work defending clients charged with criminal offenses – a rare achievement which has translated to creating real value for any client who is facing both family law and criminal law legal issues.

I opened Daugherty Luckey, PLLC with my wife and partner, Kimberly Luckey and our purpose has been to help clients define their goals and then apply the right strategies and solutions to achieve those goals. By combining our legal experience with excellent client service, we achieve our own goal: delivering an exceptional legal experience for our clients that is otherwise is difficult to find, and we do this through our actions which build client trust and demonstrate to our client's that we genuinely care.

I recently earned my Master of Law degree in Securities and Financial Regulation at Georgetown Law – the degree is best described as an advanced business law degree. The advanced education has increased my ability to analyze and comprehend complex concepts and elevated my practice of family law when advising clients through their divorce, especially when it involves assets such as a closely held business.

Kim and I have three young children (including twins). We know the thrills and challenges of being a family, a couple, and working parents. This shared experience helps us better understand our client's situation so we can build cases that help resonate with judges which helps lead to better outcomes.

When I’m not studying and outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my family – running, skiing, downhill mountain biking, and otherwise enjoying the outdoors.
