Michael Daugherty, Northern virginia attorney

Michael Daugherty, Esq.

I’m from a military family, and a family of lawyers. I have practiced law in Northern Virginia since 2012, remaining in good standing with the Virginia Bar.

In September 2023, I opened the Daugherty Luckey law firm with my wife and partner, Kimberly Luckey. Our purpose is to help clients define their goals and then apply the right strategies and solutions to achieve those goals. By combining our legal experience with excellent client service, we also achieve our own goal: Freeing ourselves to practice law fully — both as attorneys and litigators and as advisors who genuinely care about clients and the difference we can make for them.

I counsel clients and litigate on a range of matters, including family law, international law, criminal defense, and civil litigation. I’m dedicated to delivering exceptional value to my clients by providing honest, practical advice to reach a successful outcome. This has built a client base that trusts me and refers family and friends.

With my commitment to giving clients more power to shape their future, I am currently earning my Master of Law degree in Securities and Financial Regulation through Georgetown University Law Center. This expands my value to clients seeking legal guidance on everything from selling or buying a business, mergers and acquisitions, to advising boards of directors. This additional expertise will also be of value in family law cases where complex financial or business assets are involved.

Kim and I have three young children (including twins). We know the thrills and challenges of being a family, a couple, and working parents. This shared experience helps us truly understand each situation so we can build cases that make judges truly care about our clients.

When I’m outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my family – skiing, downhill mountain biking, and otherwise enjoying the outdoors.
